President Donald Trump appeared to celebrate Karen Handel's special-election victory by thanking Fox News for praising him on Tuesday night, after Handel was projected the winner in Georgia's 6th Congressional District race.

Minutes later, Trump tweeted: "Congratulations to Karen Handel on her big win in Georgia 6th. Fantastic job, we are all very proud of you!"
Following the Republican win of South Carolina's special election Tuesday, Trump also tweeted: "

Polls closed Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET after a record-high early-vote turnout, and experts say it is likely that it would surpass previous voting records as well.
The race pitted 30-year-old Democrat Jon Ossoff — who was until recently, relatively unknown amongst Democrats — against Handel, who is Georgia's former Secretary of State.
Georgia's special election was billed as a potential referendum on President Donald Trump, who heavily endorsed Handel's candidacy.
